Why would he block me after almost getting caught by the cops?

Everything was great with him, we made each other happy or so I thought. We live quite a distance from each other only 2 hours. But I had a friend in his city and stayed with her and we met up and really hit it off, like love at first sight. He cried when I had to go back home. He would count down the days till we could see each other and even planned to drive to my home town for my birthday. And he would always say that I was amazing, perfect, that he really likes me, that I'm in his person and that he wanted me to meet his friends and family. We talked every second of the day till 3 am and start back at 8am. But two nights ago he was at a small car meet and was illegally street racing and that the cops was after him and I told him that I was worried about his wellbeing and waited till he got home to go to sleep and he said goodnight my love and when I woke up I was blocked on all social media. Why would he just block me like that?
