How would you react?

This guy's someone I often meet at the library. We got along well and I agreed to go out with him. Anyway, it went a lot better than expected, on the first date itself, he raised the topic of marriage and kept saying he'd like to meet my family. I felt really comfortable around him, he'd only glance over at me and touch me on the shoulder and that's it- he treats me with respect and we chatted for over 4-5 hrs continuously.

At the very end however, we realised we had vastly different political views, after which he said his family wouldn't approve of him marrying me, but he surprisingly still asked me out again.

However, on the 2nd date, I could tell he wasn't interested. It's like he just wanted to be friends and at the end of it he said that he is now seeing someone else! I was super confused, he's a nice person and not the type to hurt anyone's feelings and I even learnt that he infact arranged the first date in the middle of his final exams! I'm 26f, he's 22m.

Would you say the same if the guy's 26 and the girl's 22? Age shouldn't be an excuse for someone's behaviour.

Women don't *always* date older guys, most women just have a preference for older guys- so do I.

My question isn't the guy. Tbh I wasn't really into him at all, I just thought he was a great friend.

It's just this treatment, and how one would instantly react to this, that's all. My question is "how would you react"

If you want him as a friend then have him as a friend let him make the move to have a friendship but since he’s got a girlfriend now I don’t think that’s gonna work the other girl will become angry

Yeah but he didn't want me as a friend, he was only looking for a serious relationship which would end in marriage- kinda sad that he cut off contact completely.
I always thought he was a great friend and I was hurt that he only wanted to date and nothing else.

I mean I was cool with dating him, but I wasn't all that into him.

Anyway, how would you react if someone did this to you? Like what would be your immediate reaction?

If a girl did that to me I wouldn’t be happy at all. But he’s got a girlfriend now and don’t date guys if you’re not really into them
