Compared to how dating shows were in the early to mid 2000s I definitely feel like the ones in present day are heavily scripted, or at least xyz gets encouraged. Sometimes the writers have a specific storyline in mind, and certain contestants fit the roles in that story better than others, so situations get instigated, pushed, and encouraged where they probably wouldn’t have happened on their own. But there are aspects that are true, just like love at first sight or even within a week isn’t impossible and can definitely happen.

Not completely scripted but I think the film staff gives strong directions and tries to add drama. Also think the people know they are on a tv show so they lie and act like it.
