You ever wonder the purpose of game shows and lottery?

Like the recent mega millions lotto, one dude wins like 800 million after taxes, for what? Being lucky? Then there’s game shows, we watch these people at times, flex their 3rd grade reading level on TV, win 10’s of thousands of dollars in the span of a half hour. People are working their asses off every day for what? To barely afford rent?

How about we put all that prize money in these things into the pockets of the actual hard working people? I’m happy for the people that actually win in these shows but most people who don’t get these chances, deserve a lot more than what they get. Can we not find more ways to take care of ourselves? This world is a joke anymore. I’m tired of it.

The Lottery is a tax on stupid people. The Law of Averages on a lottery is such that the average player almost always loses, and s/he often loses big. Casinos put their fate entirely in the hands of The Law of Averages, and even when they promise a 97% payout on their slot machines, that 3% House edge in The Law of Averages ensures that they thrive.

Although I do agree that the government promoting gambling does encourage a something-for-nothing mentality and that can be destructive.

I remember someone once telling me that the government had no right to be "Big Brother" and stop gambling, but if you actually read Orwell's 1984, Oceania heavily promoted the lottery and the proles willingly played.
