Do each of those words mean something different? Like pretty isn't as attractive as hot?
- 359 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.
+1 yTo me, a proud self proclaimed word nerd, those terms definitely have somewhat different meanings. “Attractive” is very general, it actually includes all the others. It just means that i can see how people would be sexually attracted to her, even if i’m not. “Hot” pretty much just means she makes me think about sex at first glance, f*ckable. “Pretty” means more than attractive. I am attracted, but not falling over myself to be near her. “Beautiful” means i’m very attracted to her and i probably feel a connection. I use it as rarely as “love”. I get uncomfortable when i think “beautiful” but i have no relationship with her.
Then there’s “gorgeous”, as the word intones, a feast for the eyes. She makes me think that if she’s not a model, she could be. I’m actually WAY more comfortable talking with a gorgeous woman than a beautiful one. I can joke around about what planet she’s from, or what lab created her. But i’ll worry about saying the wrong thing to a beautiful woman. I don’t want to damage the perceived connection, real or imagined.23 Reply- +1 y

A woman can be pretty or beautiful without being hot or attractive. A guy can enjoy looking at a woman without necessarily wanting to be in her space.

+1 yTo me, when I hear a guy tell me I’m hot, all I think is “He just wants to F**k me”. I think most guys use the term “Hot” and the phrase “OMG, I really wanna f**k her” interchangeably.
Beautiful or Gorgeous = Is the pinnacle of beauty, think the top most beautiful models and actresses, ever!.
Pretty = What most men would describe as really beautiful, but still attainable.
Attractive = Is actually truly in the eye of the beholder! Whatever attracts you is attractive to you! However, as an observable metric… It means she is not as beautiful as most, but still a guy would love to date her.
Cute (which I know is not on the list) = A je ne sais quoi type of quality of beauty. When a guy says “cute” he’s likely saying you’re not gorgeous, or objectively beautiful, but I’m still attracted to you.

Hope this is helpful, Laura 🤗35 Reply- +1 y
@12karen Actually, I’ve had a couple of DM’s asking me what I meant, and why I used the french phrase. (which is grammatically correct even in English) I used it because I truly believe that "je ne se sais quoi” would be the most grammatically correct form to use here. For example, “ Cute = an I don’t know type of quality of beauty, seems vague, and seems to imply that I don't know what cute is. Whereas in writing “Cute = A je ne sais quoi type of quality of beauty, informs the reader of my thinking, and that while I do know it when I see it, I cannot describe it in writing, rather than falsely stating, in the sentence that I don't know what kind of beauty cute is. Obviously I know what cute is, but it’s simply ineffable, not to mention purely subjective.
I’m REALLY glad that you liked my use of the phrase "je ne sais quoi”, over “I do not know” and I truly appreciate you taking the time to let me know. That really means a lot to me. Thank you 🙏
Sincerely, Laura. 🤗 🥰 - +1 y
@Cute, yes it's true, it's true that"je ne sais quoi" is the most grammatically correct from to use, I know that sometimes sentences or words in English are not enough to describe what you really want to say so have to use French and vice versa, "je ne sais quoi" is more of an expression that means "whatever" more than "I don't know".
It's a bit like people using " feel like déjà vu" instead of "feel like already seen"
It was a pleasure to let you know 🥰🥰 - +1 y
@12karen I could not agree with you more, I really wish that we had phrases which expressed more, similar to those used in french. Thank you so much, Karen. This interaction truly was one of best I’ve had on here.
Best wishes, Laura. 🤗 🥰
+1 yThis is what I think of when I hear those terms:
#1. Hot = Guys want to have sex with her.

Megan Fox #2: Beautiful = Like a crystal chandelier or a flawless diamond. Stunning, but untouchable. Breathtaking.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley #3. Attractive = Lovely, but attainable. Good form, symmetrical features, healthy skin and hair, great personality. This one is wife material to most guys.

Alicia Vikander #4. Pretty = Girl-next-door, average kind of pretty girl. Not someone guys do a double-take with, but refreshing in real life. Also wife material, but often overlooked in favor of the hot girls.

Hi, welcome to your local library! That's my two cents!

+1 yPerfect question! I sadly rate women not as much by numbers and as in these categories.
Every man will have his own ideas of what’s hot and attractive but we all know whats generally beautiful or pretty.
Beautiful is generally the great but by itself it could mean not just looks because I think of inner beauty and not inner pretty. I must say some girls inner beauty can be so strong that it enhances overall attractiveness that people love. Everyone is beautiful but not everyone is pretty or attractive.
Beautiful isn’t bad and only good but is better when boosted with other word like “so” beautiful or “most” beautiful. Your family could be referred to as beautiful and isn’t weird.
Your allowed to see you family as attractive but, not hot and definitely not sexy but, your spouse. Attractive is what peaks attention so it could be greatly personality that attracts but attractive we know may be pretty to the eye. Now “hot” is more in the sexual arousal area we don’t ever use for family. Considering women may call each other hot within the family because women have the femininity on there side and guys just don’t refer to other men like that for real. Not even jokingly.
Pretty is unless referred to as “pretty on the inside” is based on looks alone. The prettiest girl that wins the beauty pageant with the no skill, brains, or talent from looking the best.00 Reply- 2.2K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.
+1 yHot = not only drop dead gorgeous but incredibly sexy body, too. Debby Harry.
Attractive = she's got something going for her in the looks department but maybe not quite everyone's cup of tea. Sally Kellerman
Beautiful = VERY pretty, like a perfect work of art but doesn't come off as really sexy. Usually modest about her looks like, she doesn't think she's anything special but everyone else does. Theresa Russell
Pretty = VERY nice to look at, highly attractive in a sort of run-of-the-mill sort of way. Teri Garr26 Reply- +1 y

It depends on context and there isn't some sort of specific definition because most likely everyone you ask will respond slightly differently. I feel like most guys would at least say that they don't strongly disagree with this statement though...
A hot woman is someone you find sexually attractive without knowing anything about her.
Attractive could be any combination of both physical and personality characteristics that would make a woman worth dating.
Beautiful is top tier of both physical attractiveness and personality. This is someone that I guy would typically want to marry.
Pretty is similar to attractive, but is solely based on looks.10 Reply- 538 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.
+1 yI kind of reserve "pretty" and/or "beautiful" as respectful terms in regards to my initial thoughts on her facial appearance (what you take-in/notice first about her which is typically from the neck-up)... wow she is pretty/beautiful.
My interpretation of a "hot" woman, is when everything about her (wholly) elevates my body temp just looking at her. It's the face, the curves, the makeup/or lack thereof-natural beauty, the hair and the outfit that accentuates all those things. Even her voice or how she behaves makes her hot.
When I refer to a woman as "attractive" it not only refers to her appearance. It also refers to her personality being attractive.
That's kind of how I interpret those words to mean from my own perspective, they may mean something else to someone else, but it's how I differentiate between those terms.

+1 yFor me the the term HOT is typically used to describe someone who has a bold, intense physical appeal. It often implies a strong, immediate physical attraction and is usually associated with sexiness. The term ATTRACTIVE is to me a more general term that can refer to both physical and non-physical qualities that draw interest. It encompasses charm, charisma, and appeal that can come from someone’s personality, style, or way they carry themselves, in addition to their physical features. The term BEAUTIFUL often carries a deeper, more holistic appreciation that goes beyond just the physical. It can include elegance, grace, and a form of aesthetic pleasure that one finds personally moving or profound. Lastly, the term PRETTY, typically refers to a delicate or endearing type of beauty. It suggests a pleasing appearance but is often perceived as softer and less intense than "beautiful" or "hot." Again, these are how I see them.

u +1 y1. The differences between hot, attractive, beautiful, and pretty women are not that significant. All of them represent a woman who a guy would want as a partner.
2. Hot is a woman who immediately appeals to lustful desires. Attractive means a woman who is very pleasant to look at but not necessarily instantly creating lustful desires. Beautiful sometimes includes looking "classy" or elegant and often also means looking mature (but not old.) Pretty is like beautiful but approachable.
3. Your profile picture looks like most single guys would be attracted to you.

+1 yWomen tend to use a lot ambiguous phrases to describe other people particularly men in romantic (and platonic) scenarios.
Their ace hole in one vague compliment is “cute”. Because on one end it can be used to compliment an unattractive guy who has a “cute personality” and on the other end it really means “hot” and she wants the jump his bones at her first opportunity.
While it’s not a bad thing (no woman will call a creepy guy “cute”) it’s also intentionally open ended because women don’t like “letting the cat out of the bag”. It’s confusing for men especially younger ones.
So instead of asking for “what do you mean by that” guys are expected to watch a woman’s “signals” to see what she really means.
So maybe when you get a compliment like that you should see how the other person is behaving. The devil is in the details.
00 Reply- 419 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic.
+1 yI hear this all the time, but to me, it’s all interchangeable for “attractive.” I don’t see a string of different attractive women necessarily and “ok, #1 is hot, #2 is attractive, #3 is pretty, #4 is cute, #5 is beautiful….”
Like…. there’s levels to it, and different vibes, like I could maybe get one kind of vibe from one and different one from another, or one is better looking to me than another. But at the end of the day, it’s pretty binary. “Would” or “wouldn’t”, at the risk of sounding crass😅
00 Reply 1.7K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Not much of a difference at all , they are all compliments , they all mean positive things , if someone calls you hot, beautiful, gorgeous , attractive etc. they are complimenting you and saying you have a glow about you that sticks out to them. Now it could mean they want to be closer to you or it could mean they just like you as a person that’s something only you can figure out , of what their intentions truly are by saying that to you. Usually if I tell a girl she is hot or beautiful or gorgeous , I am pretty much letting her know I am attracted to her and pretty much letting her know I am interested in her.
00 Reply1.2K opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. Yes I think they all mean something a little different.
Hot is showing a lot of skin or showing every nook and crannie of her body through skin tight clothing. She is going to pick up some guy and have sex with him.
Attractive is more the personality than the body. Not ugly but not necessarily superlatively beautiful. At least slender at the min.
Beautiful makes me thing of the face more. Good hair and generally well proportioned body. Elegant.
Pretty is usually young and not needing much assistance to look good. If I call a girl pretty there is going to be something about her eyes.

+1 yHot - Highly sexy from head to toe. She also has hairstyles, makeup & outfits that highly compliment her, too.
Attractive - A good-looking face (& possibly body) & possible alluring activities, such as how women are attracted to men that play guitar or create art.
Beautiful - (1) A good-looking face (& possibly body) or (2) A good-looking face with a positive vibe, personality & traits. She could also possibly be a rarity in vibe, personality & traits. (3) Just a rarity in vibe, personality & traits. (4) Just super positive, super giving.
Pretty - A good-looking face.00 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yA hot woman is the one who goes on the calandar posing with a fast car. You want to fuck her
A pretty woman is usually more petite and has what would be described as a cute appearance. This is the girl you take on dates to see fireworks with the family and she visits you at your job.
An attractive woman is kind of in between the pretty woman and the hot woman. She comes across as a little more mature, a little smarter, maybe sharper. She probably is very good at putting together outfits which are the right amount of provocative for the situation. This is the kind of woman who becomes a James bond girl.
The beautiful woman has some of the sophistication of the attractive woman but makes it seem effortless in a way that has a similar feel to the pretty woman. They have that "natural" beauty which makes them look good even when they first roll out of bed. This type of woman is usually either a bitch! Or super nice and nurturing.
00 ReplyI think “hot” means sexy, while “beautiful” means, hmmm how to say it, like perfect features perfect hair well dressed good posture etc. The same woman could be one or the other or both, I guess it is really opinion of who sees them, but anyway that is how the difference has been explained to me.
10 ReplyBeautiful or gorgeous are exceptional such as Miss Universe, fashion models. Olympic figure skaters, KPop singers, and most young movie stars. Hot is very attractive to beautiful and very sexy. Attractive is above average, and pretty is above attractive but less than beautiful.
10 ReplyBeautiful is like a pretty woman that is pretty on the inside ss well as the outside,
Pretty is a female that looks real good but but don't know her personality or it sucks,
Hot is a female with not necessarily a gorgeous face but decently attractive face and a smoking hot body nice ass nice tips with that hour glass look,
Cute is she may not be pretty but certain things about her you find attractive in a way,
And okay is like her face may be a little rough but you know with thag body she can fuck like a crazy woman or she like right on thag line between I would hit it amd no I wouldn't.
LoL thag how I see them anyway.00 ReplyThey can be used interchangeably.
I personally don't normally use "pretty" to describe a person; that's more for objects like clothing or decorations. I'd probably say either beautiful or hot when describing a woman, and the only difference is that the latter is more casual.
I use "attractive" more as a broad description that would take more than strictly appearances into account.
00 Reply825 opinions shared on Guy's Behavior topic. No they're all their own each individual word but they all come from the inside to be true the outside is just all an extra bonus that means really nothing it's the inside that counts and each one of those words that you said has to come from the inside first that's what makes them all different

00 Replyobviously beauty is subjective and pretty could mean attractive in the same way hot can be, but like... i dunno it's all personal preference? being pretty or beautiful doesn't mean you're attractive, like a lot of women are pretty or beautiful but it doesn't mean the person finding her that wants to sleep with her?

I think a lot of guys have different opinions on this. It’s pretty dependent on the person. I don’t really use too many of them interchangeably. “Hot” is usually reserved for models or describing various women with the guys. Attractive and pretty are disconnected descriptors for me. I just use them to describe someone’s subjective or objective attractiveness. “Beautiful” and “Gorgeous” are reserved for women who tend to throw me off my game and distract me from what I’m doing.00 Reply
