We are good together he apparently cares a lot about me and yes we do all sorts of things in private. moreover he worked verrrry hard to get me. there are some other issues.

Some people but mostly men are not at ease to display emotions in public. That can happen to the biggest macho. The causes can be found in their education or perception of the display of emotions.

To a lot of them, it is indicative of a lack of manhood to "lower themselves" to hug or kiss in public. It is just something that is best left to women. They also are afraid to be seen by buddies or other guys and then to be labeled a softie or even a weak person.

Despite their apparent hard core and display of strength and strong character, emotions are a taboo for a number of them because it indicates that they are also having feelings, which is against the impression that they want to communicate. A real guy does not kiss or hug in public. What would others think?

Depending on where you live and his age, this is something that you simply have to encourage and get him to realize it giving you a hug or holding your hand does not make him any less of a man or showing too much public display of affection. Hopefully as he gets older these fears will drop away and he will realize how much enjoyment he will get out of showing that he is with someone that he truly enjoys :-)

Some people don’t like public displays of affection and some are exhibitionists. I’ve never had a problem with a hug in public.
