I am more of like Maleficent, when in love, gives her all but misunderstood when she turns her heart cold 🥶 but still believes in love. Growing up, I was once Daddy’s little princess but the scary world made me tougher when I was on my own. You gotta do your own rescuing, a prince or a knight is a bonus if you finally meet him! Or a frog 🐸 who turns into a prince/knight later once you get to know him ❤️

I doubt I'm either of those choices... I'm more of a peasant trying to live out his life as simple as possible. Met a woman who I'll treat like a queen, but won't be able to buy her everything in the world

I feel more like a DreamWorks hero. When the thing and what I'm supposed to do click, it's game on. And I can make the girl's day. But if I haven't found that click yet, in spite my best intentions, more often than not pursuits will end in failure. And not just clumsy bumbling trip over myself failure, but whole universe seems to be conspiring against me absurd bad luck failure.

I want to take her to some park she's always wanted to see. Road gets shut down because of a 20-car pile up. I find a workaround, but then her mom calls and needs something from her urgently. So I go to her mom's house instead. And then they disappear for a few hours and forget that I'm still there. I remind I'm still there, and get told "never mind." Her uncle winds up in jail because of some BS thing at work, and the whole family something something. I never see or hear from her again. And think: "So... what was the point of the last 3 months?"

Or in college, a floor mate does something really stupid. His car is now stuck in a snowbank. He's drunk as a skunk. I feel pity for him. I tell him I'll get the car out, and will park it, and drive him in mine to his destination. He's not driving anywhere.

I get eh close to getting his car out of the ditch, and a random tow truck driver notices us. No one called for him. He just conveniently was passing through. He'll only nudge the car if we pay him in cash, $55 upfront, out of pocket. Neither of us have that. He says we either pay, or he'll leave. I tell him we'll figure it out.

He looks at the floormate, and suspects the guy is drunk. He calls the cops as he drives off. I get interrogated and released. The other guy goes to jail. His car is towed and impounded. He's charged an absurd number of fees for everything. And they find every possible way to double his fines. Miraculously, someone pays his bail. But it sure wasn't me.

Everything I tried to save him from, ruined because of one asshole tow truck driver. The dude needed counseling, yes. But they saw him be stupid, and they only saw dollar signs. They didn't like me, because if my plan worked, the guy would've gotten some help, without them getting fat bonus checks and trips to Hawaii out of the deal. They couldn't see that their incessant greed and treachery was even worse than the floormate's alcoholism!

But none of that matters. What matters is, that's what usually happens when I try to be the hero. So I relate more to DreamWorks.

Keeping armor bright and shining takes time and effort; the kind of knight whose armor still shines is the kind who's not out battling evil sorcerers or rescuing dragons from fire-breathing princesses (or any other permutation thereof). I'm more the annoyed, world-weary kind of knight, whose armor is battered and scuffed but still functional, accompanied by my brave unicorn steed- yes, they exist; here's a photo: Mine even has an inexplicable Mexican accent, so bonus points.

While I like acting like I'm royalty sometimes, I'm definitely not pure hearted but I also try not to be evil either. If I'm considered a bad person or a villain, I'm fine with that. Alternatively, I am the peasant, undeserving of everything but learning to make themselves useful in the face of adversity. Tied to nothing and no one.

I can’t relate to princes at all, and i’ve grown out of the damsel rescuing knight mentality. I don’t think Disney proper has any good antiheroes, so if i can’t be “Shrek”, i gotta be a villain. I’m not opposed to being “Scar”, intelligent, under-appreciated, and maybe a bit too volatile. Ell oh ell! I could probably pull off Quasimodo too, but less the Disney version.

I feel like I'm a Shrek and aspire to be a Flynn Ryder. Plus, Repunzel in Tangled is my favorite Disney princess.

But since I already went outside Disney with Shrek, then quite possibly the most accurate character to me is Sokka. And he gets Suki so that's also a win.
