We have met and have been talking for a month. I finally asked what he was looking for in online dating. This was the convo.

Him: “I’ll know when I find it. I have no expectations or anything like that.”

Me: “And there is nothing wrong with that. I have kind of gotten a certain vibe from you so I thought it best to bring it up. I really don’t want there to be any confusion or you to feel like you have wasted your time if you want something else. I have to be honest. Granted I am not rushing into anything with anyone, but I do want to find someone that can eventually lead to something more. I do understand that not everyone is open to that.”

Him: “Fair enough.”

think he’s just going with the flow, doesn’t necessarily means that he’s not open to the idea of something more serious. it’s just up to you now, if you’re comfortable to just let things run its course until he figures things out.

It means he's open to getting to know you, but he isn't getting overly excited before he's gotten a chance to really know you. It sounds totally reasonable and realistic to me.
