Why do dark and scary men interest me?

I always question this. why people like ted bundy when there are guys who give peace of mind? I guess I have a lack of love coming from my family.

Madness fascinates nearly everyone. The unholy fusion of extreme confidence and unbridled ambition, shrouded in the common mysticism of never fully knowing what others are thinking, is easy to mistake for a sort of radiance. It's usually a dependable thing that people will try to avoid looking like an animal, but madness seems to project animal behavior not as subhuman but as superhuman. Even the most obvious of low behavior, like theft, can be cast not as some monkey grabbing a thing to make themselves feel better, but with madness can instead be cast as the just dues owed to a radiant savior. To be clear, it is the prior, though: no matter what everyone else believes or how hard they want to believe it, the thief is still just grabbing what makes them feel better.

Anyway, darkness isn't madness but it is kind of its shadow. That is, to be "dark" is to acknowledge that madness exists in this world and has its uses. Sifting through the madness to take the confidence and ambition but leave behind the sociopathy is a tacit goal of most dark people. At least as I see it.

You don't actually like them, you're just infatuated with the rockstar aura they have... When clarity hits sooner or later or when you're actually with them you'll realize how stupid you were.. Hopefully before you're too damaged or developing an inferiority complex... If you took Ted Bundy as an example... his fan girl wife (she was ugly) left him after it was certain he actually killed those innocent women... and if you took a minute and thought about it.. What if one of the victims was a family member or a friend or someone close to you... You'd be disgusted by even the thought of him...

It is likely that you find them mysterious. Initially, mystery is a driving force in interest of another for dating. Often as we discover the person better, we find them to be a little too mysterious, closed off, and deep seated issues grounded in unfortunate Family circumstances. Fun 🤩 is relegated to concern at that point. At least this is my experiences ‼️

Females crave power. A guy who rebels against authority and does whatever he pleases seem to be powerful. Plus it's probably a lot easier to get a guy like Bundy to "like" you than a guy who built his own mega business or built his own country or who is happily married to a hot wife. Those guys have a million options. A guy like Bundy is a bottom feeder, attracted to all the scraps.

Actually he was (from what women have said) an attractive charming guy. He dated some very attractive women in his personal life (he didn't kill anyone he knew personally, thus one of the books about him was titled "The Deliberate Stranger"). And most of the women he killed were quite attractive and many were college students , so I don't know where you get the "attracted to scraps" from - he didn't kill hookers.

@zagor Yes, everybody knows that women found him hot looking. A woman (or man) being attractive doesn't make her not 'scraps'. What makes a woman valuable is her character. You won't find Bundy getting high value women because such women wouldn't waste their time on him. They would detect his issues and not seeing it as more important than his looks.

There's an illusion that it does because educated dudes tend to have more in common with educated women or meet each other while in school. An Einstein dude has zero problem dating a high school dropout woman, if she has the right personality & looks.

Its hard to explain why some people gravitate towards the dark/dark people. Usually the result of unresolved trauma or lifelong dissappointments. But maybe its just something about the mystery and the intrigue that has you fascinated.

Because it's exciting. You have an element of danger and mystery, and the ever-appealing element of "oh but he won't hurt me because I'm different" that women just seem to love.

Women have been attracted to men like that since the dawn of time. Good the "dark triad" and you kind find tons of info from psychologists about why women are so attracted to bad boys.
