Yes even just grabbing coffee with him for 30 minutes is a “date” under the following criteria:

1. He asked you to hang out one on one

2. He’s paying for everything (even it is just coffee)

3. He never casually referred to you as “a friend” (ladies you need to stop doing vice versa so much). Men will almost never ask women they are platonically interested in hang out one on one unless it’s someone they’ve known for a very long time

4. You get a vibe he likes you. You should sense that. However asking you to hang out one on one an obvious sign of something (not definitive but a huge hint)

Yeah. It’s possible that this is a platonic friend thing. It might even be a professional thing between coworkers; it all depends on the context of the situation. Realistically, nobody invites their opposite sex friend out for a casual drink at the end of the date to blow off steam, but there are contexts where that could happen.
