Was I wrong for saying I wasn’t engaged when I wasn’t even though I was just trying to get a response?

I was saying this guy for about a year and a half or so I thought but he would act weird and ghost me and block me unblock me. So yeah other day I texted him to come see me so he said he was getting his son for the weekend so I said ok. We then proceeded to talk about different topics so I asked about the poly life and told him I was engaged the ninth he wasn’t talking to me to see what he would say the Poly part he answered and I was shocked then when I said I wasn’t really engaged he still got upset and said I was lying and I was engaged and he would have been happy for me either way , and I’m like my guy I really wasn’t engaged and told him I just said that to see what he was going to say. So he got upset blocked me on everything and I felt bad cause even though he has hurt me I am not the type of person to hurt anyone. So was I wrong even though he always acts like he doesn’t care about me anyways or was he just using that as an excuse to just leave me alone all together?

He has lied to me , and you’re right I was wrong for even stopping that low even though I honestly didn’t expect for him to react that way. I did cry the next day cause I know how I felt when people hurt me or have hurt me and if he truly is hurt which I don’t know that makes me sad cause I still love him and have love for him. I just hurt a lot cause I never expected him to hurt me when I was nothing but real and genuine to him. despite all the things he has done to me.

Honestly he has lied to me a lot and hurt me a lot however I apologized and asked for peace and forgiveness that’s all I can do I can’t dwell on it anymore I released him and his energy and I do feel bad however I forgave myself and I’m healing my shit and can no longer dwell on the what ifs. He blocked me now I can move on.

I was upset with myself and I feel like maybe a part of me wanted to hope he hurts like I was hurting, and that’s not me and I wasn’t thinking straight cause I was drinking smh. I apologized to him and the universe and he blocked me and probably won’t ever talk to me again. And maybes that’s not such a bad thing cause I can heal from all of this hurt.
