How much time would be "too much" to get to know a person without asking them out?

I've heard that 3 months of trying to get to know the person would the the "average" time to get to know them before asking them out.

Is this accurate?

Would this be enough time even if you barely see the person only once and/or twice a week for 15 minutes without any phone number and/or social media account?

What would it be the "sufficient time" for you?

3 months' too much broza if you're constantly talking, like if you're just around at work you're not too close but you have fun and are kinds friendly then show you're interested, that's fine, but if you're actually talking for 3 months that's toooooo much, only a few interactions in which you flirt have fun and vibe with her then ask her out, that's process is at most 2 weeks bruv

I asked out my current girlfriend the moment I saw her (x we've been together for 3 years now. My previous girlfriend was a person who came over my friends place for a party and when Iheard her say she loved legend of zelda I basically started flirting with her instantly. Asked her out maybe 3 hours later lol.

There's something that feels weird to me about getting to know someone as a friend for the purpose of seeing if there is romantic compatibility. It feels indirect and maybe a little dishonest. Personally, I always thought that going out on dates was the way you tested romantic compatibility, but maybe I'm old fashioned
