Meeting new people (and girls) in your 20s?

Well, it's not been easy for me to socialize with people, I have always been extremely introvert, I'm trying to change that and be more open, but it's not easy, it's a process.

I'm 21 and I haven't had my first girlfriend yet, I'd like to talk about this with someone in person, the problem is that I can't tell any family member about this, because if I do I would get no tips, I would become the laughingstock of my family.

I live in Latin America, a town of about 36k people. What could I do to try meeting new people and girls keeping in mind my situation?

My brothers know A LOT of people, and they have many people from our town on their FB accounts, would it be a good idea to add girls and try to talk to them?

You should move if that is an option. But either way, sign up for activities you like that way you are meeting people through mutual interests and you have something to talk about. Plus there’s no pressure of it being a dating situation you just make friends and one day you will meet someone whom it develops into more with. I met my last boyfriend of 5 years salsa dancing. I met my boyfriends before that both in college. I’ve had another relationship with someone I met traveling. Just get out there and do what you enjoy and it will come naturally!

I'm in college, but most of the students there are... Meehh, they only thing they like to do is to smoke weed, how else could I meet girls?

Well hard to discount an entire school full of people unless you have personally met every one? Regardless what do you like to do that has co ed groups? What are you into? I go to real estate conferences, salsa socials, skiing groups, online gaming, travel and stay at shared rooms hostels… these are my examples but what do you like to do? And what type of qualities do you want your partner to have? Do you want them to be active? Join something active. Even making friends with other men that can introduce you to their circles. It’s just networking and the more you get out there the greater your chances are

I feel that, I struggle with socialization, being at uni helps a lot, but I feel you. I forced myself to go to events and start chatting with others in the same class, this is how I got some of my friends today

Well, what kinds of situations are you talking about? Keep in mind this is a relatively small town
