Is my ex up to mischief?

My ex whom I had not seen or spoken to in 2 years confided in my cousin that he was hoping we got back together. We are both in new relatiobships however. I recently posted about my new boyfriend on WhatsApp and he blocked me from viewing his status. He has not deleted my contact and has left his status visible to all my family members to whom he knows I'm very close (since he has always been a close friend of theirs). Why was I alone blocked from viewing his posts? Is this possibly a manipulation tactic? I find it to be very odd.
