Will I look desperate if I message him this time?

So there is this guy who is my ex colleague, we both left the organisation after that we didn’t have any conversations, and I like him somewhere I feel he also likes me. He messaged me after 10 months out of nowhere, we spoke for a while. Then after 3-4 days I messaged him asking I want to meet up for coffee and he agreed by saying he will let me know when he visit my city in the next year.
Its been 4-5 days we didn’t have any conversation. Should I text him? Or will I look so desperate if I take an initiative every time?

I feel he needs to take an initiative this time, as last time I messaged him first.

I don’t think he’s the right guy to pursue, tbh. He let 4 days pass before you reached out, had you not then who knows if he would’ve. Now more days have passed, and he’s still not initiating. On top of that, how can you two build anything? Basically you won’t see him til this time next year, why sign up for that? I get that you’re interested but this situation has no silver lining and his actions only prove it. You’re better off moving on.
