For a first date, it is almost always dinner at a nice, upscale, but not over-the-top restaurant. That allows for quiet conversation and the date can end after an hour if there is no connection. If I want to extend the date, I can suggest that we move into the restaurant lounge for an after-dinner drink.

1st date is what I call "the interview" we have fun, but it's more about getting to know each other for this a park or coffee, this eliminates foodie calls.

If all goes well I'd move onto Italian restaurants, not spaghetti warehouse place seriously has gone down hill! And possibly movies, if anything is playing worth seeing.

I'd also be on the look out for festivals and conventions for us. I'm a gamer so I'd be looking for cons for us to enjoy together.

Also walks in the parks on the weekend, when possible.

Again this is all predicated on us hitting it off, but yeah that's about it.

All sorts of places! :) Probably start with coffee somewhere. A walk in a park? A beach. A meal... doesn't have to be fancy, just good. Breakfast is better for early dates. A play or a concert. Soccer game. Mix, match, repeat. If she has a child, a zoo or amusement park or water park or somewhere that we can find a stuffed animal or something.
