Gave a guy my number, how long to wait for a text?

A while ago a new barkeeper started working at the pub I'm often at. He's quite nice and we get along well... so I thought why not give him my number. I wrote my number on a paper and gave it to him. I also said that I though he's rather nice and if he'd like to meet for a coffee sometime and gave him the paper. He said that he's up for it and he'll write me. He also only called me by my name after this bc my name was on the paper which I thought was rather nice. I havn't heard from him since and now I'm not sure if he was just being nice about it or if he maybe still gonna text me...

Probably being nice. Not trying to douse your hopes with that, it’s just one of my long time guy friends co-manages a bar for a few years now and the stories I hear are all over the place. These guys get women attracted to them regularly, giving them a lot of options. Often times they are not in a serious relationship because they can be so picky, and usually very charming and kind. Someone sliding over their number on a napkin or whatever is a normal thing, and they entertain it but rarely follow through unless the woman is really hot. Even then it’s not for anything serious, just fun.

Neither of you clarified to each other if either have any commitments with someone else. Maybe he is in committed relationship right now. That doesn't mean you can't be friends with him and have a harmless meeting together.

Try not to expect anything. Meanwhile, drop by the bar again and act like you normally would. Silently gauge if things are still cool or if things have gotten awkward.

A bartender is ALWAYS getting passes! If it's been more than two or three days, forget it. He's PAID to be polite and pleasant to everyone he's serving. Someone who's interested and available will respond quickly.
