Do muslim men date christian women?

I am christian and I have a crush on a guy in my class. he‘s muslim and I think religion is pretty important to him. do I have a shot with him? I’m asking because my friend (who doesn‘t know him) says that most muslim men want to have a girlfriend who is also muslim. is that true?

Muslim men date non-Muslims sometimes. But to get married, you will very likely need to convert to Islam.


I know an acquaintance who was a Christian girl dating a Muslim man. They dated, but in order for them to marry, she would need to convert. In the end, they didn’t work out because she wasn’t ready to change faiths.


My fiancée was from a Muslim family. I come from a Christian background. She wanted to marry me, despite her mother refusing to let her marry a foreigner. She actually ended up getting disowned by her family. So, changing faiths can be pretty serious for Muslims.


If you’re a Muslim, you are forbidden to change faiths. If you’re Muslim, your spouse must also be Muslim, otherwise it is against the Quran (and even illegal in some places).

Muslim men are allowed to, muslim women don't, it's a very sexist religion as you can see.

The Qur'ān allows Muslim men to marry Christian women, but some don't believe so or are that orthodox that they'd marry only Muslimas. I've been Muslim for eight years.
