Why would my boyfriend say this?

I’m in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend and the other day we were on the phone and he said ‘I sometimes get worried when you take a while to respond to my messages and it makes me worried you are with another guy, but I don’t feel like that much anymore’

Why would he say this to me?
