Why is my boyfriend saying this?

I’ve been dating a guy for a few months he says he is my boyfriend and we have fun together but he seems to have an unhealthy relationship with a friend of his from the past. He even said to me that she looks like a celebrity and our relationship will never get in the way of him spending time with her as she’s important to him. Should I be concerned?

We can’t tell you how to feel but ultimately what’s the point in being bothered? He’s already set his boundary with you by saying your relationship won’t affect the one he has with her, so it’s either you accept it or hit the road. I’ve dated two guys who had the super close female friend to where their connection was suspicious and all I can say is to protect your peace because he sure isn’t gonna do it for you. I actually think it says a lot when he won’t at least dial things back with her. For instance, not having hours long conversations on the phone and keeping his actual girlfriend waiting.

Honestly I put my boyfriend first unless it's family gladly drop what I'm doing with my friends but yeah I would be concerned about that but I would talk to him and if it bugs me so much I would cut things off because it wouldn't be fair for him if I was always like suspicious of it there would be somebody else better for my boyfriend if that issue ever happened for me I don't like to hold people down I realize how fucked up that is cuz you're probably looking for some hope and I just fucking fell face first on it and killed it

Definitely, major red flag. I don't believe in having friends of the opposite gender when you're in a relationship, but him flat out saying she is basically more important is wrong and seriously concerning. He seems to have a thing for her, and is already treating you as less. Run for the hills.
