I did it both ways... and both went well, lol
first I would make sure to know what she liked and preferred, then we would pick something like that... but other times, we just went there without a plan, and went to something that seemed to be interesting
so, it really depends on them and what they're into and also a few other things... there were girls who actually wanted to see a movie in particular but there were others who just wanted to hang out and have a great time, and movies were the "excuse" lmao... either way, we made it work well
It's changed over the years. When I was young, we went to the cheapest movie we could find and spent the entire movie making out in the back row... rarely even looked at the movie on screen.
As I got older, I picked a movie that we'd both like to see. More often, it's a RomCom, and sometimes an Action Movie, depends on what she and I both are in the mood for.
I wouldn't suggest a movie on date cause you won't be able to communicate with one another during a film. If it's the second or 3rd date then it's fine. I would go with horror or some type of sci-fi film. I don't mind other genres though, the only films I'm not super into are crime/cop or wartime films.
Had to vote other cause technically it's all of the above. All just depends on what's out and what looks good. He's never complained about watching chick flicks which is a plus. And I'm a fan of blood and gore.
I am the same as you on movies. I love a good romantic comedy but I absolutely adore horror movies.

Horror for the snuggles and or Rom Com for the laughs and bonding lol
I selected action, but I'd also do comedy. Or something like Downton Abbey. Romance is blah when you're on a date. It's either way over the top cheesy or it's so impossibly unachievable.
But, also, really, "hey, what do you want to see" and I'll roll with most choices.
Id prefer not to go on a movie date, at least not at first, because it doesn’t allow much opportunity for you to talk with your date which i feel is pretty important in the beginning.
but if you’ve been dating awhile yeah id say a comedy or horror are good ones.
The last movie date I went on was awkward. We went to see a romantic movie (I prefer action adventure ie. mission impossible with Tom Cruise). I wasn't sure where to put my hands so I put my arm around her. My arm was almost numb by the time the movie was over.
Romantic comedy. Dramas and romances are fun too.
I agree 100 percent.
Romantic comedy because you not only imply something indirectly, you can also have a good laugh together and women love to laugh.
I love romantic comedies
Or even something like "The Notebook" - I know that's an old movie but something similar where you have a romantic drama and they get together in the end and you both walk out happy.
It's one of my favorites
Mine too - yes guys like those movies too... lol. I will still watch it if it comes on a cable channel from time to time. I have to admit the scene with Noah asking her "what does she want" near the end struck home with me because I had something similar happen but I digress... great movie and great actors.
Probably action.. I'd say romance but id feel it kinda implies too much. I may be wrong!
I'm not gonna lie I like good action movies and horror and drama but I think my favorite might be romantic comedies.
Hey I'm with you on that.
Can never go wrong w comedy. Everyone likes to laugh. Not everyone likes action especially women. Let’s face it women don’t really like romance either. I could possibly see romantic comedy if it was something like Adam Sandler’s 51st Dates. Men don’t like drama, for some reason women seem to like drama.
I'd ask first. If she said she "didn't care" then an action movie. If she was upset then I know what I need to know in order inform my next steps.
TBH there has not been any good movies for a long time. what would a plan B option be?
There's always Netflix and chill. So only 15 minutes of a movie 🤣
A comedy.
Laughter is good.
It also takes away some tension.
Horror fills me with excitement and makes me hold her in my arms.
I would totally ask a girl out to an action movie or a romance comedy.
I like all kinds of movies, but lean to comedy, so that I can figure out if she has a GOOD SENSE of humor. If a woman DOESN'T have a GREAT sense of humor, then that doesn't bode well!
usually a comedy or a family friendly movie.
action or horror, it can't be a slow movie otherwise I fall asleep but if it's horror, I want to know what scares my date. This is will be important information down the line.
I voted Comedy. But I guess I would not be fussed. Besides, I'd nowadays, never been on a date though, prefer something like a public dinner and a public city walk.
I’ll usually choose a good movie i’ve already seen but they haven’t. This way they are less likely to talk through the feature, and i’m less likely to care if they do anyway! Ell oh ell!
It really depends. I’m open to watching about anything
all of the above depending on who I am taking
Communication is key 🔑 so try to find one that appeals to both of us
It's depends on the girl I always let her pic the movie
we be watching a comedy so we have something to talk about afterwards or something
Definitely horror.
But I'll watch a boring movie if he wants, lol.
I don't like romantic movies, so everything else haha whatever is interesting to that time
Romantic comedy, drama or comedy….. could go action (that’s my favorite) but not usually early dating type movies unless I learn she is into those types of movies too.
I'd see a comedy movie because I like laughing
I never was big on movie dates... but the few times I did, it was usually comedies :)
Anything romcom or comedy because everyone likes this genre
None. Usually I just want to talk and get to know someone better. It’s lazy to go watch a movie instead of connecting with someone.
Romantic comedies seems to be the best in my book. Gives the woman her romance and you get your comedy. Then both parties are happy.
Whatever we want to see, and only if we already know each other a bit. A movie date is awful as a get to know you date.
I’m a rom com girl.🌹❤️
Romance, but I’d not go to a cinema; they’re scary.
What I want my relationship to be. Romantic comedy. rofl j/k
Since the love of my life likes horror movies I'd take her to a horror movie. But the only movie that's really playing now is avatar which was good but predictable really predictable
Probably a romantic comedy!
Ooh I'm with you on that.
A Romantic movie for sure
Whatever I've been wanting to see. Most likely a comedy.
Romantic Movies
i think horror would be good
Watch a romantic movie good time later 😉
Horror everytime
Action and Horror!
None. Dark rooms on a date is stupid.
Never asked anyone out so I don't know
Romantic comedy
Easy comedy
Horror movie lol
