What’s it like living in Chicago Illinois? or just Illinois in general?

My boyfriend decided to dump me right before Christmas and I’ve been debating on staying with my cousin who lives close to Chicago but curious if I’ll like it there I currently live in Kansas.

Me too I’m so scared of the thought of living there but the guy I was with is mentally and emotionally abusive and I don't know if I wanna stay here til may when the lease is up or break it

I’d be moving to live with my cousin in a diff state away from him cause currently I live with him in our apartment but lease isn’t up til may l. They said I can break it if we both sign it saying so but will this mess up my chances of finding another place

All big cities have a certain level of violence, this is normal in a very populated country. News will always show bad things, so you'll always get the impression that there's only crime there, but in reality it's much harder for something to happen to you if you're careful. Just try not to walk around at night in dangerous areas, put your cell phone away and only use it in safe places... It's not as bad as it sounds.
