Was this a great gift?

So we had secret Santa and I got a girls name. Never met her and she wasn't there that day. When I got t meet her, she was my age. So I got her a really nice gift basket. It had non alcoholic champagne, feminine and body care products like shampoo bath bombs , perfumes etc. It also had candies, nail car kit and robe. She said thank you for the gift in a polite and friendly way.

So ladies, if a guy gift you a basket like this what would you think? Was it cheap? Did I make a good impression?

It is nice to receive a gift but...

Why would a total stranger give such a gift? Personally, all my alarm bells would ring at the same time. Receiving a present from someone I don't know means to me that this stranger wants something from me.

It is one thing to give $1 to a homeless and not expect anything in return but it is a totally different thing to give an expensive gift like the one you gave. The receiver will automatically know that something has to be given in return.

It is certainly not cheap to give a gift but one has to look at the intention behind this gift? What was you real intention behind this gift? What were you (secretly) hoping in return?

It is a gift from a stranger for secret santa. It doesn't mean all that much.

I think it was a very nice gift, but you might have spent too much for it just being secret Santa.
