Is love and sex really the same or different?

I found myself debating over this topic with one of my friends. I simply asked this, "people claim you can love a person but not sexually attracted to them and vice versa but why do people call it cheating when you sleep with someone and not when you care for someone with the same attention? He was speechless. Any thoughts?

Love and sex are basically 2 different things. You can have the one without the other. It is not a requirement to love someone to fornicate with them.

On the other hand, you can love someone without having sex. Someone that is asexual does not have the urge to copulate with the person he/she loves.

You can very well segregate both but unfortunately, in our society, people want to merge the two into one.

Since (almost) everyone prioritizes fornication over love, it will obviously come to the cheating because people have lost the control over their sexual hormones. Rather than to be independent from them, they have become the slaves of their hormones and a relation nowadays, have to have sex in order to work remotely.

Philia - friendship,

Storge - familial love,

Mania - obsession,

Ludus - lust/flirting/casual "love"

Pragma - loyalty, and

So, as per your understanding of this topic. If you love someone you own them therefore they are obliged by the conventional boundaries of you set for them which is implicitly true. But I'm not questioning this, I'm questioning the reasoning of people do they consider cheating while sharing intimate moments alone or sharing same level of care and attention or one follows the other there's a difference. It takes a grown to ask and answer these types of questions. If your guy (if you have one) fucks you whenever you want him to but doesn't pay you attention and care for you rather showers your female friend with the same wouldn't it be unfair? I'm putting both the love and sex on the scale and seeing how people reaso about cheating.
