As humans we all have our interests and our cravings, We tend to take our benefit to consideration in almost every situation.
So if Lust is mostly just out of benefit like when you love a person for making you feel loved or you love a person for any other eason that makes you feel good or get what you want, than what is love really?
How can you really love a person for no actual reason? And if so, what's stopping you from loving another person just like that?
Imagine if your partner asked you why do you love them? What's the reason for your love? How can you answer that question to really let them know that it's not out of self interest (Lust).
For me there's no clear distinction unless we're just talking some random girl in a sexy outfit. Anyone I get to know in person is someone I will start to care about quite deeply the more we get along with each other. I've seen all sorts of tables and descriptions attempting to differentiate these two terms but I'm just not wired that way. I even care about all my exes like I want them to be happy even if we couldn't work things out.
The only practical distinction that strongly resonates with me is how much you know someone. With my teenage crushes, I didn't know the girls so well. We had a few interactions, conversations, and I imagined the rest of how they might be like, and how we might be like as a couple. So I fell in love with more the fantasy of them. With my wife of over a decade, I fell more for the reality of who she was, although there is still some dose of fantasy as well -- everything from passionate fantasies to peaceful ones of growing old together which also contribute to my attachment and care and desire towards her.
I suspect I'm just a weirdo because those "lust vs. love" tables don't make any sense to me.
Love and lust are really just different words for monogamy and polygamy/promiscuity. Love is the biological mechanism designed to facilitate reproduction in conditions where monogamy is the preferable reproductive behavior, whereas lust is the biological mechanism designed to facilitate reproduction in conditions where promiscuity is the more preferable reproductive behavior. They have the same benefit - reproduction, but they function differently.
If my partner asked me why I love them, I would tell them that I love them out of self interest. They would have to be stupid to believe that people ever do things that aren't out of their self interest.

Lust isn’t an act out selfness it is a love, love and lust are two sides off the same coin which is why Gods off fertility are also off lust and love, lust is an act that allows another too experience the intertwining off souls for example I practice tantra sex or masterbation that brings a higher state off being (mediative sex) the orgasm are intense because you open your up spiritually slow and erotic, the first rule off trantra is orgasm isn’t the outcome the act off pleasing your partner off both genders too love the act and too be shameless. You can make a person feel good about themselves even for one night love is love and lust can be love, here is someting for you the Vikings and other pagans did sex in rituals and men would dress up as woman and it was something considered too be normal it is Christians that created the stigma attached too lust it isn’t a sin unless you take it too an extreme like hurting yourself or someone else.
Love is confining, enslaving, governs the vastness of ones social interaction, constrains the imagination and diminishes the worth and virtues attributed to ones soul.
Lust is sweated, musty, greasy, dripping with a pungent musky potion, it's what your looking at when you know you shouldn't be looking, it's the one thing you did that youd rather die than your mother know. Lust is the stain just to be laundered away after you have say goodbye before you woke today.
Even if you were to argue that you only do certain things "out of love" to attain or maintain consistent sex. That wouldn't change that lust is about that primal intensity to jump their bones. And knowing how physical attraction fades over time it's hard to argue that there is no difference.
It's easy to argue that they are connected, because they are in a lot of ways. Love has the element of caring for their wellbeing despite your own interests, outside of fostering the relationship. There are times people do thing in love knowing it might end the relationship, but because they love the person they follow through.
Lust has no self sacrifice. Love does. Warriors lay down their lives out of love. Not lust. You know a good way to keep having sex? Not dying.
worthwhile to talk about whether or not everyone has the capacity to love. If they even have the ability to give enough if themselves to another person, a cause, a relationship or what not. Some people aren't in a place to truly love
"I love you because I need you. Or I need you because I love you." These are lust vs love.
SIGNS OF LUST
You’re totally focused on a person’s looks and body. You’re interested in having sex, but not in having conversations. You’d rather keep the relationship on a fantasy level, not discuss real feelings. You want to leave soon after sex rather than cuddling or breakfast the next morning. You are lovers, but not friends.
SIGNS OF LOVE
You want to spend quality time together other than sex. You get lost in conversations and forget about the hours passing. You want to honestly listen to each other’s feelings, make each other happy. He or she motivates you to be a better person. You want to get to meet his or her family and friends.
Very different, but I'm tired of lecturing on the subject. In greek there are three loves, and C. S. Lewis wrote a whole book on the subject. Also, look at the dictionary, two different definitions. People seems to confuse the two, maybe because there isn't much love in the world now.
Lust and love are very different ! If you can spend the night with your girlfriend , sleep in the same bed , hug and kiss her and not have sex with her at all then you may care about her and you are not necessarily lusting after her flesh ! Thanks
LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD = FUCK+ LUST. If there were no lust men would not get married. Simple as that, I dearly love my wife but no sex no marriage simple, what is so difficult to understand. Men pay for their wives why, for sex, so simply men want sex and will pay for IT.
That sounds beautiful and poetic but where are the facts? What do you mean by "spiritual one"? Nowadays we know that the feeling of love is a concentrated explosion of the dopamine hormone in the brain and the heart so how is it not physical? And about "Lust is an uncontrollable urge", well... I can say I feel sorry for any person who can't control their urges, especially Lust.
I think the later generations are more realists and less naive.
Love stays lust fades, Love ( in a broader sense) it apart from physical interaction. I love my kids ( even if I can't see them) I will always have a place in my heart for my EX ( but no place in my life) The one I'm with now fills me with Joy and happiness. Regardless of distance or time. My loves ( past and present) are spirit bound. The thought of them will always warm the soul and calm the mind.

Love and lust are opposites. Lust is wanting to have. Love is caring about the other person, and wanting what is best for them, and acting accordingly. Both love and lust have feelings, but they stem from different sources.
Is the feeling a parent has for an infant son or daughter a matter of lust? There is not that much the baby can give in return for the parent's self-interest. Consider what the difference between that and lust might be to help answer your question.
I'm not the best person for this type of question but I found a distinct difference. Love is caring for someone more than yourself and lust is putting your own desires before the other person's
Lust is craving the body, love is craving the soul.

One involves the heart and one doesn't. Lust can fade away easily. Love can't. Love is deeper than lust. Lust just has to do with what's on the surface. Love has to do with what's inside.
