Would you date a blue collar worker?

I admit it's something I've never considered, and all the women I've dated either worked white collar jobs or did not work at all.

I admit I used to have some prejudice towards factory workers, but recently I've been touring factories and found out that I really enjoy talking with them and find it marvelous how they create things with their own hands, and that manual labor can be even more important than intellectual labor.

I've also learned that factory workers are not "simple grunts", in many cases they have more common sense and maturity than some CEOs and politicians I know. Had a couple of beers with a couple of them and one of them struck me as an especially intelligent and thoughtful woman - and the fact that she spends her days building with her hands at a labor intensive job it's something that I find admirable, especially when she showed me the signs and the scars of said work on her hand. Somehow I think that they can be even more beautiful than perfectly manicured and nail-polished hands.

Why would one not want to marry someone who puts their Name on the line at every job. One who is not afraid of Work, commits to project at hand, and values loyalty, struggle, and quality performance?

Often, when people hear Blue Collar they do not think Skilled Trade although they should. Yes, it is a job classification that primarily references the physicality involved in the Trade Skill. Lots of these guys are Ma/Pa Businessmen in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, General Contractor/Maintenance, etc. These people have licenses and most have continuing education requirements.

And on a bad Summer and Winter month, a 50,000 check for A/C/Heat replacements can go out... That's not bad for a blue collar guy, eh?

I come from a blue collar family so I don’t look down on them, but I don’t think I would have enough common interests with them to sustain a long term relationship.

That's what I thought as well, but I was surprised some of them share interests similar to mine, which are usually white-collar if not upper class.

Yeah, I would and have. Dated a welder. She was awesome amd I learned some cool tricks and things from her.

It was. She was down to earth and was good with handy work. Probably would have been my girlfriend now but we were at different stages in life.

As an automotive technician I would have no problem getting a woman that did physical labor, I think we'd have that much more in common.
