I wonder why so many people have downvoted this. I’d personally agree with this statement for the most part (of course there are exceptions, but it’s like people don’t want to admit how they really feel these days too).

Because they're a good person. And, depending on how long they were together, they know each other. More important, they know the background so it's actually easier to get and give the advice.

This actually makes sense to me. Like I said, I could see going to someone I knew or having them come to me for advice because we already knew each other. All the background is there. So much easier to tell a story and get advice.
