Why would my ex try to hurt me when he doesn't even want me?

My ex and I stopped talking a long ago.. months.. after he dumped me. He now has a hot girlfriend and he's moved her in with him. she's met all his friends and he's shown her around. He called me recently and he said he was curious to see how my life was going. By my mistake, I honestly told him everything. He did nothing but criticize me the whole time and tell me I wasn't "pretty enough" to do anything. His advice was stuff he felt was better for me. When we were dating he told me he was from this popular city and everyone there is attractive and that my face wasn't attractive but my body is. I haven't called him since the breakup, why rub it in my face.

Because he’s a spiteful person who recognizes that you’re insecure and wanted to make you feel bad. In any case what’s done is done, you can’t take back anything when it comes to him. All you can (and should) do is focus on yourself and your betterment. His opinion of you only holds as much weight as you allow it to, so don’t let his words have such power over how you perceive or feel about yourself.

Wow, that's just straight up messed up what your ex is doing to you. It's not cool at all for him to be calling you and putting you down like that, especially after he already dumped you. That's just cruel and twisted.

I can't believe he's rubbing his new girlfriend in your face too. That's just plain disrespectful. If he's moved on, he should just leave you alone instead of trying to mess with you like that. You don't deserve to be treated that way.

It really sucks that he's trying to hurt you when he doesn't even want to be with you anymore. I don't get why he's doing that, it's just messed up. You shouldn't have to deal with his criticisms and put-downs. That's just toxic behavior on his part.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. Try to just ignore him and focus on yourself. You're way better off without him and his crappy attitude. Just hang in there, you've got this. Don't let him get you down, you're stronger than that.
