Why does my ex boyfriend want to ruin my relationship when I told him many times I wanted to break up?

Hey, guys I don’t know where to start. But, recently my ex found out I have a boyfriend. Yesterday evening I received a message from him telling him to leave my boyfriend or he will message him and ruin my relationship. He told me hours ago that what he is doing is karma for not sticking by him and that he will show me what love makes you do. It got to the point where my ex told me how he hated my new boyfriend. Other than that, I couldn’t stand being with my ex because he began treating me bad, while he was having family issues. And I wasn’t happy Being with him at all. I told him many times while I was with him that I wanted to break up. But he wouldn’t listen, he would continue saying I was his, and etc. This also occurred with my guy best friend, my ex would also tell me to drop my friendship or else he would talk to him as well. I’m actually scared and don’t know what else to do.
