Do you think dreams are just a reflection of our thoughts?

Are dreams just a reflection of our thoughts? I have had two dreams of a guy I like. Last night I dreamt that his friend was saying that he is a nice guy and he will always be there to help others. And asked if I’m single. Could this be because it’s a sign to say he is just a nice guy and to leave it at that or because he is usually in my thoughts and I always feel that he will never go for me and he is just a nice guy?

I do not think dreams are reflections of our thoughts but I do believe that it is a means of processing information. I have no idea what they mean, why some are remembered and some forgotten, or what their purpose is in any shape or form.
