Do you think dreams have meaning?

Question

I dreamt that President Trump sat down beside me at a table full of people and whispered in my ear. It was weird to say the least. I've never dreamt about a president before.

It might just be the constant things I see and hear about him and it was in my subconscious but I hope it doesn't have a greater meaning.

I think it can. You know we have a triune brain with three layers? Reptilian, mammalian and primate which is the conscious brain. Each of them is thinking stuff and observing but mostly not consciously. I'm pretty sure my reptilian brain is in charge of which girls I like.

Putting an issue on the back burner is a genuine method of problem solving. All I'm trying to say here is our brains are more complex than the self observing conscious brain.

Some time back I dreamt that a tree had fallen on a rental property I had. In my child hood a tree had fallen and just missed my fathers house. Maybe at some level in my brain, I recognized the risk of a 60 foot tree by the back door posed.

As a species we are story tellers and our dreams are certainly stories if not entirely logical. Maybe in my sleep I stitched up an unconsciously noticed risk with a past event I had long forgotten and created a story (dream).

Just as well I did pay attention cause I got some tree loppers out and told them cut of some big branches. They found there was rot internally and kept cutting further down to find sound wood but never did. The 60 foot tree end up as a 6 foot stump :).

As to why you dreamt you got attention from Trump I am not going speculate. Do you like and admire older powerful men? Oops I just did speculate. :)

I believe they not only have a meaning but a purpose as well.
When you said that he whispered in your ear, for some reason my mind went to the fact that he was shot in his ear. Coincidinky?
Dreams are a way of clearing out things from your mind. Not important things of course but the superfluous stuff. Dreams help you get rid of what you don't need to hang on to.
Like do you really need to have the president and everything going on with him cluttering up your mind?
I've read about this before and it seems to make sense to me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dreams have meaning to a degree. At minimum, dreams are the best way to interact with one’s own unconscious/subconscious mind. It reveals insecurities, fears, and coping mechanisms and you can interact how you see best, provided you’re capable of lucid dreaming at some level

I have dreamt of him before. Just the other day, and I forget that dream, but the first dream I had was before he won office the first time. On election night, I dreamt he was marching with soldiers. That was the dream. And it was very odd--they were marching with him in unison. Nightmare, and then the real nightmare was when I found out he had won the next day.

I sometimes have dreams that come true. And also, ominous dreams.

Yes, I think so. But only an emotional meaning . I can look at the symbolical meaning, but that's just for the fun of it. For me what really matters is what a dream says about what I feel, not what I think.

Indeed they do, but some dreams have more meaning than others. There are lots of books about interpreting dreams. I’ve read a few. I also learned lucid dreaming. Which makes dreaming way more fun!
