Do you believe Opposites attract?

I would say it really depends.


But instead of the word opposites, I’d use the word “differences”.


Differences CAN attract, and attract very powerfully.


But, they need to be the right kind of differences, they need to be complementary differences.


Basically, some differences are very compatible, and other differences are very INcompatible.


With the right combinations of differences, you’ll have a winning team.


With the wrong combination of differences, you’re looking at a train wreck just waiting to happen.


So, it depends.

Personality-wise, oh yes! I'm a bit of an introvert, and I was always attracted to extroverted, happy, bubbly girls. On the other hand, an extroverted guy with a real sales personality might be much more attracted to quieter, shy girls. See, each of us seeks in the other what we are lacking. We look for someone to complete us. There are exceptions to this rule, I know, but I think they would be rare.

Oh yeah they definitely do... Butttt... usually it doesn't go on forever and the magic is gone after a while... When clarity hits and you realize it's not challenging and exciting but it's a like a chore / task and you can't be really connected to the person...

I don’t. I believe that we look for qualities in others that we’re lacking. But pure opposites, I don’t believe so. You have to have some commonality foundation for things to work.

It depends on the interpretation. It's true that most people wants in their partner something different than theirselves, but it's a disadvantage when they have different interests.

Only if you focus on just a few things. Couples will always have something that ties them together, even if it's not obvious.

The more alike people are, the easier they get along. When you have common values you get along well and avoid a lot of arguments. When you have common interests it's easy to have fun together on a regular basis. When you have a similar since of humor you laugh at the same sort of things and play off of each other. When you have similar levels of intelligence you can talk about the same sort of ideas. When you are of similar attractiveness, you're not looking outside for someone that looks better. When you have similar sex drive you're not likely to cheat to get your sexual needs met. Opposites are a fucking train wreck. Find someone as close to like you as possible. Everyone will be different no matter how close they match and have their own idiosyncrasies that keep them different enough.
