If you live in a big city, you will need to make more than if you reside in a small town. It will all depend. It is also a team effort. At least, that is the way it is for myself and my patter. We both contribute to our finances.

Is it exactly equal? No. That would be so rare with any couple that it would be exactly the same when most have different careers and work at different places.

So long as me and my husband can live comfortably without financial stress, that is all that matters to me.
