Why did he give me his address?

I confessed my feelings to a crush, he said he had moved to another country, then gave me his address and said I could leave him any words if I would like to. Why? I already have his email we can communicate there using it.. he didn’t invite me over to his place but said I could leave him any words to the address…

I don’t understand
Was he rejecting me? Like hinting that “I’m far away, so we won’t have a chance” but honestly he could simply just say thank you then that’s it..

Because I told him I liked him. He didn’t say he liked me too. He gave me his address to let him give me a letter maybe? I don't know if he was rejecting me. Like I said “our distance is far now” like hinting me to give up or he just didn’t want to talk to me so he preferred snail mail so that he didn’t need to reply to me often. Idk…

We aren’t that close actually, I heard that he deleted people from the past, he cut most of his friends off when he moved abroad and he always pretended to not have social media.. I don't know..
I sensed that he had a crush on me before I’m not sure if he did. We are like hiding and avoiding each other.. I don't know what’s wrong with us.
I sent him a letter and he never replied then., I don't know if I said something that offended him in the letter or what..
so that’s why I find it so strange that he gave me his address but then never replied. He said it would take him a while to get back to me but it had been a year and no response.
Don’t know what was on his mind.
I was so upset and mad so I deleted my email account later.
It’s been 6 years now and those questions keep lingering in my mind.. I want truth from him.

I don't know. I’ve dated a few guys then and I though I had forgotten about him, but I think about him every now and then without emotions and feelings but quite recently he pops up on my mind again, and I feel a strong urge to know the truth, I wanna ask him why he did what he did and some other questions that’s been on my mind… but it’s been quite a long time and it would be strange to reach out but I know I’ll always wonder why and some of the things he said to me.
