Would a server/bartender ask the contact information of a customer/regular just to be friends? Assuming they just met them?

I agree with @lenanolena. I am a server myself and personally I am at my job to do my job, I am not there to harass customers especially when I don’t know what a customer has going on there their personal life. If a customer likes my vibe, and wants to leave their number in hopes I’ll text, then that’s on them.
a bartender I just met asked me for mine (exchanged numbers), later a guy came in said I have instagram, she said shell follow but when he asked for her number she said no. She also texted me the next day nice meeting you, etc. Could she be interested. We basically chatted when I was there for a bit.
She may be, but it sounds like she’s trying to create some kind of hustle which a lot of bartenders and servers do. I used to be guilty and text men I wasn’t necessarily into because they provided money for me
What hustle? We just chatted to get to know each other and all. And she asked for it randomly. It wasn't like a business connection or something like that.
Getting tipped more
I didn't tip her much, like just a little, because the bar had a service charge lol. Also, when I come back she might not be there and all. I thought bartenders/servers will be friendly/harmlessly flirt for more tips but not just give out their numbers.
He'd interested in dating that person, or its for personal reasons.
Very unprofessional
