What Girls & Guys Said

I joined a pre-internet dating org in 1993 when I was 39. It had book cases full of ring binders - blue for guys and pink for girls arranged in alphabetic order by first name.
Each person had one page. On one side had an 8"x10" professional photo that had been taken by the org. On the back side was a profile.
When you went in for your photo shoot, you could bring a couple of outfits and they took several photos. You picked the one you liked the most to go into the binder.
You would go through the binders. When you found someone you were interested in meeting, you filled out a card and submitted it at the front desk. You could do up to five a week.
Those cards got sent to the person you were interested in. It included your name. They could look at your photo and profile, and if they were interested in meeting, they notified the org and then both of you were given each other's phone numbers so that you could talk and set up a date.
I thought it was a really good system. No cheating.
I think it's best to meet in person instead of playing games with texting. I think texting is a waste of time. And it's sort of cowardly and antisocial.
Agreed, in person triumphs all options but you have to get to stage because not all women you want are going to cross your path in regular life
Yeah, well, that's called agoraphobia. I'm not interested in that kind of woman. They can hide in their rooms and play games on social media for the rest of their lives.
I forgot to add that I met my wife through that organization.
