Why do people like movies such as Steel Magnolias, or Dazed and Confused?

I love "Dazed and Confused" but that's because that is pretty much similar to my generation. So, for me, it's like going back to being a teenager.

The movie is not about stuff blowing up or violence or superheroes which is pretty much what all movies are now given that young people can't think and have the attention span of a gnat thus they need rapid-paced idiocy in movies to enjoy them.

I don't know about Dazed and confused, but Steel Magnolias is a chick flick with a young Julia Roberts. It's mostly a story about southern women.

I liked Dazed and Confused, but the other one is just one long bore.

I feel the same way with most Tarantino movies. Everyone says they're so great but each one is such a bore. I don't get the hype.
