Is being "too nice" a good reason to reject anyone?

I met a friend today and told me about this one instance where he asked a girl out for coffee and she said you are "too nice" to go out with sorry.
So it is a genuine reason or she was just rejecting him politely. (I think the second)
But if you think the first then what is the good amount of nice to get in a relationship according to you?

Sorry guys for the incomplete question. The girl he asked to coffee was his college friend and he asked her out on a date kind of thing.

Being too nice sometimes isn't that good. Personally ita not like I want f*ck boys but if a guy is just too nice or too polite or just tries really hard it's a turn off for me. Its seems to me like he is desparate. I know it sounds bad but I think people have to try being normal with the ones they like. Not being too interested but not uninterested either. Yeah I know it sounds bad but that's how I see it. And yeah I have been too nice with guys that didn't really deserve it and I got rejected so yeah..
