Guys who want that typically want to marry young virgins who will take on the traditional role of cooking, cleaning, caring for the children, and "comforting" their husband when he gets home from "slaving away" to support the family. Those guys want to be the heads of the household and in control of all the assets. It's the only way they can feel manly.

They don't want their wife to have a career, income, or any ability to survive outside of their control. In that way, they think they can hold onto her. It's narcissistic behavior.

Then, if the wife eventually grows up and gets too sick of his shit to put up with it any longer, those men want to keep all the savings and assets that they accumulated when they were married and leave the women with nothing. They say "But I'm the one who paid for everything with MY income. Look what a nice guy I was for supporting her all these years. Why should she get to have any of MY stuff?"

That's the kind of selfish, greedy, cold blooded, dick heads they are. And they cry like little bitches when they have to share.

They absolutely should, here's the changes I would make:

End no-fault divorce, if a someone cheats or initiates divorce for non-reasons such as "irreconcilable differences" they get NOTHING.

Dead bedroom is a valid reason for a man to initiate divorce.

50/50 is the default for child custody.

Any allegations of abuse made during the divorce proceedings MUST be supported by a police or hospital report or they are inadmissible.

Alimony and child support are capped based on the area's median income, none of this "keeping up a certain lifestyle" crap.

It depends. I have no issue with a woman or man who gives up a career to raise kids for perhaps decades getting compensated by long term spousal support.

But "No-fault" should only be mutual agreement or, if only one insists upon it, that person forfeits some percentage of marital assets.

And a return to at-fault. Adultery = forfeiture of all marital assets.

Agreed, separate bank accounts, and whoever bought something, owns it. No stealing an ex's property, and no rewards for divorce based on lifestyle. If you can't afford to keep the same lifestyle after divorce, oh well.

Marriage laws don't need to change. What DOES need to change are divorce laws. If they don't change soon, marriage will be a thing of the past in another generation or two, and western society will crumble.
