My friend kissed me on the neck and I felt bad. Is it just friendship appropriate kiss or offensive?

Question

A friend while hugging inside a car kissed me on the back side of my neck despite knowing I have a boyfriend. I immediately backed off. I told him it was inappropriate but he said that was a thing of friendship and simply a kiss less than a second.

I felt offended as he didn’t even apologise or own actions.

I’m too scared to tell boyfriend and can’t even face him as I literally feel cheating on him.

Well you’re in a little dilemma that’s for sure. You didn’t cheat first of all. No, friends don’t do that sort of thing. That is an intimate thing, kissing a girl or a man on the neck. It’s a vulnerable area, shows passion, love, sexuality, etc. Now here’s what could happen. You tell your man about it, chances are he’s going to flip out not only on your friend but you as well. He’s going to question why were you even in his car, why would you let him get this close to you? He may try to fight your friend. Which you may not like, possibly getting mad at your man for being stupid for trying to fight your male friend. To which your boyfriend may get even more mad thinking there’s something going on between the two of you since you’re sticking up for him. I mean if things were reversed, had that happened to him w a female friend of his to which he told you, what would your reaction be? Now let’s go w you not telling your boyfriend about it, but then he finds out somehow. Now it just looks like you lied because you didn’t say anything. Like there is something going on between you and your friend. I’d tell him, hopefully he doesn’t react the way I think he may.

Damn he sneak-a-pecked you. Very bold move. Take it as a compliment; you’re desirable. Guys must think you’re cute and leave it at that. You did your best and I respect that you told him the dealing and how you felt. I would love to have a girlfriend the would respond how you did. The fact is I’m trustworthy enough towards where I’m not messing around with a girl I don’t trust enough that I feel worried or paranoid if she’s going out or not near me I would only hope that she’s stands up for herself and our relationship. You didn’t do anything bad at at, that guy that kissed you was slightly wrong but, more confused and too eager. You should only feel like you cheated or cheated yourself if you let him do it again or kissed him back. Your boyfriend really doesn’t have to know right away and just kinda forget about it unless it gets brought up. I will try your best not to mention it though the longer the better for example it’s been a while and you say oh “yeah, this dude tried to kiss me a couple years ago when we first started dating but confronted him and I pushed him away it wasn’t a big deal.”

I have French and Brazilian friends. Kisses to the side of the cheek are the MOST intimate "friendship kisses" get.

Your friend is legit trying to make out with your neck and then gaslighting you about what's normal.

What's normal is your friends respecting your boundaries. If you're not comfy with those kisses, then they stop. Either because this "friend" respects your boundaries, or because you drop this "friend".

I don't think you need to tell your boyfriend. It isn't anything you did it is something your friend did. My guess is that he was feeling frisky and just wanted to test the water. If he is a real friend, that will be the end of it and he will have gotten the message.

I think you should forget about it, not tell your boyfriend because you didn't do anything wrong, and if you really feel your friend is worth it, give him another chance. He may be too embarrassed to apologize or talk about it. That isn't necessarily so bad because it would mean he realizes he made a mistake.

Don't make a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be. You aren't hiding anything from your boyfriend because you didn't do anything.

Nobody kisses a friend on the neck. It's one thing to kiss hello/bye on the cheek, but that's not what that is. Also you need to decide which you value more, the relationship or the friendship, because both aren't sustainable at the same time just as a matter of respect.
