Meaning behind chatting daily with a guy colleague?

Ever since the one fateful day my guy colleague chatted me up on social. I have been chatting with him everyday. He sends me good morning messages daily and we talk about our lives rather than about work. I really enjoy talking to him, but i don't know if he does with me or if he is just bored and looking for someone to talk to.

We don't message each other every minute of the day but sometimes hours apart, but we always end the day with a message/topic he could follow up in the next morning. We have been talking like this for weeks now, but i am confused if he likes me.

Can i get some opinions on the situation?

He probably likes you. None of us like rejection so talking to you on social media is a safe way to test the waters. He might be bad at reading signals or have a hard time making the move from there but it's safe to say that if he's paying this much attention he's probably into you.

This is a terrible idea. I can already sense the time where he's going to start pulling back leaving you with questions. Such connections fuel a fantasy that cannot live up to reality. He probably does enjoy talking to you, but is likely unaware of the psychological implications with such a daily conversation online.
