1.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. I think that is the meaning of being ghosted? I mean if she just quits talking to and blocks you, and you know why... then its not ghosting.
Ghosting — when someone cuts off all communication without explanation — extends to all things, it seems. Most of us think about it in the context of digital departure: a friend not responding to a text, or worse, a lover.
So if you knew the reason as to why she or he never responded, then its not ghosting. and YES I have been ghosted on and it super weird. Only seriously emotional immature people do it.00 Reply

+1 yI've had that happen once or twice over the years and it doesn't bother me.
If someone is so immature & disrespectful not to explain why they're "ghosting" you then they're not worth your time. If anything - like I found with the one or two - they are probably inconsiderate, immature, irresponsible, etc. anyway so it was BETTER they removed themselves from your life rather than continue wasting YOUR time on them.
Take one guy who "ghosted" me when I was trying on-line dating last year.
All he did when we first started talking was WHINE about his job. Literally whine, whine, whine. I was sympathic, understanding, etc. - was engaging in the conversations - but there was little to nothing else able to talk about because it was always about him.
Even before he "ghosted" me I had come to regard him poorly / as annoying.

22.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. Yeah - oh I had totally forgotten about that, thanks for reminding me.
I did them the exact same thing when they reached out.
It was not out of malice or revenge, but out of sheer indifference.
I have nothing against ghosting though, I accept it.00 Reply
+1 yYes, but it didn't matter. If someone ghosts you, that's it. You're done. Accept it and move on. Getting rejected hurts, but whoopty fuckin' doo. Tripping on the concrete hurts. Hitting the table corner hurts. Stubbing my toe on the door hurts. Life hurts. You gonna cry over every single one of those? Take a breath, collect yourself, and move along. Getting hung up over someone who ghosted you is Grade A retarded. If you do it, you will find "Grade A" imprinted on your forehead next to the picture of a retard.

+1 yAll the time 😑 Especially happened to me regularly in my 20s when I showed people my picture for the first time online, or they met me in person.
I figured it's because they saw my picture and weren't attracted to me, or they found someone else.
It's annoying, and definitely not great for my self esteem, but eventually I got over it.10 Reply - 6.4K opinions shared on Dating topic.
+1 yI was ghosted by the guy I dated who came back briefly months or years later. And I was ghosted by my best friend of 18 years. I'm assuming the ghosting was because she was more popular than me cause as kids we were equal in social status.

By someone who was pushing me to tell my family that he was coming to make things official. I did and two weeks later, he went MIA. I shutdown for months after
and was so ashamed, confused and depressed. I texted a lot at that time just to see if I would finally make them talk to me. I don't know what happened till today. But after almost 2 years, I am happy it didn't happen 🤣😂🤣. I wasn't ready to not enjoy my tea leaves in tea 🫣🤒. I found peace in that 👻
Thank you for ghosting me 💪 whoever it was 😊😌.00 Reply
+1 yYeah, it’s happened multiple timess happened multiple times. A man that I liked gave me his number various times and anytime that I would text him, he’d ghost me or if we were having a short conversation because we never really had long conversations, along the way he ghost to me and eventually he deleted my number. I kept deleting his but he kept on giving me his number again over and over again. Don’t know what he wanted, don’t know why he gave me his number and kept giving it to me if he was not going to answer.

+1 yIf you can count giving a guy my number and him never reaching out, sure once, but I don't count that as ghosting.
So not really?
Usually if someone doesn't reply to me, I assume they forgot and/or aren't interested in continuing to talk to me and I move on.

+1 yYes and that person was a girl who I thought was my best friend we were really close in elementary school but once we got to middle school she just stopped talking to me and I still don't know why because I don't think I ever did anything to make her stop wanting to be my friend

+1 yYeah. Was supposed to be going on a date, went to where and when we were meant to meet and she never showed up. Never heard from her again. I never got a reason, think I said something, I had made a little joke, think that's what put her off. Or she was just an empty souled catfish
00 Reply 669 opinions shared on Dating topic. Yep. I understand that somebody ghosts you if you're just texting and never met before or if they're getting weird. But like if you started to catch feelings for the person (my case), you have been inttimate together and he just cuts you off. Little piece of shit. I hope they get their lesson.

+1 yA few times but they often try to pop back up months later and work their way back in. Of course they never actually win me over again but it feels good to get closure of why they left in the first place instead of having to think about “why”

+1 yI think that's the definition of ghosting - you never get a reason.
To whomever this happens I presume the 'ghost' found someone else, or got back together with an ex - that makes most sense to me.
00 Reply I had some suspicions but never really knew. They were all very early on in my case and even before an actual date. For example, I make out with a girl in a night club and she gives me her number and never replies the next day.

One time I got a reason from other people. The woman I made out with was the owner of a nightclub and I was so confused. Why did she dance with me and make out with me all night, pass me her number, then never return my calls? Then I caught her the next weekend doing the same with other guys and was like, "WTF!" Then other customers as I complained to them told me she is like that with every guy. She has reputation for being "preying mantis" like seduce the males of her species and then bite their heads off.

+1 yI was blocked and dropped, I guess the same thing. Can be really painful. I didn't know why... but it forced me to think and learn. Once I figured it out, I got to a better place.
00 Reply 2.2K opinions shared on Dating topic. Yup especially those who proclaim they won't leave. Block and be done with them after a month or two of nothing because it's not worth wasting your thoughts on someone who don't care.
00 Reply393 opinions shared on Dating topic. Yes and no. I’ve been ghosted by one person and I went out of my way to figure out why by snooping. They found themselves a relationship and I just moved on based on that knowledge

+1 yFortunately I have never had that happen. I would never even consider doing it. I think it is classless behavior and I'm sorry for anyone who has had to go through that
00 Reply 1.7K opinions shared on Dating topic. I have never been ghosted for a known reason. I don't spend time thinking about why some people don't answer, I just move on.
00 ReplyThat’s the thing. You don’t know the reason why. You just never hear from him or her again. You think things are going great and then BOOM, total silence from that person.
