He's most likely to offend me by doing or saying something misogynistic or narcissistic doing so.

A shy, awkward guy being true to himself is no problem. I can work with that.

A guy lying to himself to make himself look "better" (according to his own assumptions) is a problem. I don't care for liars or people who feel a need to exaggerate themselves or their skills.

Trying to hard. It makes me feel bad because it tries to give me a feeling not deserving whatever it is he's giving me and two if he does that, I wonder how many more times he did that to a girl he matched with. Am I really the one? Probably not.

The try-hard guy is definitely worse. I can understand a man being shy or awkward on a first date as it can be exciting or thrilling for him, but a try-hard guy I cannot understand. If I am gonna like you I will like you anyways, you don't have to put in the effort that is much more than needed the first time we meet.

I would give the shy one a few more chances before deciding what to do with him. I would give him a chance to warm up to me and feel more comfortable around me. I probably wouldn't go on a second date with the one who tried too hard.
