Why Would My Girlfriend Tell Me About Other People Complimenting Her Beauty?

Like she'll say how 3 coworkers told her how beautiful her hair was, or as a nurse she's had like 20 people tell her she's attractive even some married guy with a son.

Why would a girlfriend be telling their boyfriend about other people saying she's attractive?

It sounds like she’s trying to get a reaction out of you.


The reason could be many different things.


Here are some possible reasons that come to mind…


1. She wants more attention from you. So, she’s telling you stories (perhaps true, perhaps false) of other people giving her attention in hopes that you’ll begin giving her more attention.


2. She doesn’t feel secure about the relationship and is talking about guys and girls complimenting her so that you will see her as a prize and want to hold onto her. She wants to feel wanted and valuable to you.


3. She trying to make you jealous, by mentioning other guys complimenting her. But, she’s softening it a bit by also mentioning girls, so that you don’t get the wrong idea. A little mix. But, the point is that she wants to feel some passion from you. She wants to feel you get possessive of her (some women like that) because she doesn’t want to feel replaceable or dispensable. She wants to feel important to you. She wants to feel coveted and treasured.


4. She is sh*t testing you. She’s trying to see how emotionally stable you are, how much self-control you have, and how confident you truly are. An emotionally volatile, impulsive, insecure man will freak out and blow up on her, get dramatic and needy, get angry and sulk, or perhaps some other highly emotional reaction. A confident man that’s secure with himself will not be bothered by compliments from other men. He would not be phased because he doesn’t feel threatened. He’s confident in himself and his masculinity. Now, if this is the reason she’s acting this way, she make take it a step further and tell you guys are flirting with her, or she may even flirt with other men. (I don’t agree with this by the way. I think this is a horrible idea, but many women do this anyway.) This will let her know if you have boundaries and the assertiveness/confidence to enforce them, or will you fold and just allow her to walk all over you? She wants to see you stand up for yourself, even if the opposition is coming from her. You pass this test by standing by your boundaries, enforcing those boundaries, and letting her know that you will not tolerate disrespect, and are willing to walk away if she will not respect your boundaries.
