Why guy sometimes jokingly act sulky?

Typically, the whole universe know only girl like to act sulky over everything🤣 but when a man jokingly did it with me, im clueless hahah.. Once while we are on call, and once when we are on a date.. Not sure how to react, not sure why he act like that. Wanting to hear me comfort him? Or basically he has interest, and thats one sign?
