I confessed my feeling to a guy I've had crush on since last year expressing how I'm attracted to him and his intelligence. Also making him know that there is 'no pressure involved' and he should take his time to process it and to know that I'm available if he wants to talk about it.

I also included that I'm taking responsibility for any decision he makes and it won't affect our friendship.

NB. We spoke on the phone before I sent him the message, though I didn't bring that up on call.

His response was "I really do appreciate this and thank you for being expressive. I wanted to say earlier during the call, you have such a bright mind (full of ideas) and unrelenting spirit and I’m really expectant of the great things you will do. Thank you for ‘allowing’ me some time to process it. I really do like you and I’m rooting for you. Do you want to call?"

To which I replied "Sure" followed by "Thank you for your kind words. Your encouragement means a lot to me, and I'm grateful for your support." "Let's have that call whenever you're comfortable. Looking forward to it!"

The call is yet to happen though and it's been over 22 hours

I did asked him if he was in a relationship prior to sending that message and he responded "no".

@Chijoy but the fact is he must really value you as person to wanna go easy on you.. for everyone it's different. I remember my guy friend rejecting me. He was direct which I appreciated. It wasn't how he said it but what he said that make it not feel bad. He basically said I know you have a crush on me but you need to stop because you are gonna get hurt. I don't know why but I had a different respect for him that day

@Asker but just because he rejects you now doesn't mean it can change in the future. Sometimes men need to experience a little pain and loss to realize what they had in front them the whole time.

Just because he told you that doesn't necessarily mean that's the case. In fact, you may want to consider turning the tables on him, and telling him that you've got a date with another guy this weekend. It might give him a reminder that he's not the only guy in the world.
