I’m not typically blown away by actresses, as a general rule. Of course there are exceptions, but these women are famous because they’re reasonably attractive while also being able to ACT, which is the key part. You can’t just wheel out any hot person and expect an acting performance from them. I’ve taken acting class in college, just intro level, and that shit is actually HARD. Thought it would be easy, and I have a pretty outgoing and somewhat dynamic personality, so I always thought it was something I’d be able to do reasonably well. Then an actual actor is coaching you, and you think you’re killing it, but they’re like “You’re indicating. I’m aware I’m watching a performance right now”, and you’re just like “well, fuck”, lmfao. I think we discredit actors too much, even supposedly “bad” actors, because that bad actor is probably still so much better than any of us.

So I say that to say that these people aren’t just casted for their looks, particularly someone in a leading role. But I don’t know if you ever watched much of The Simpsons, but there was an episode where Moe the bartender gets plastic surgery that makes him handsome, and he gets an acting job on a soap opera. He was inspired to get the surgery when he was originally casted for the same soap, and he overheard a director or producer yelling at the casting director for getting someone who looked like him. The casting guy says “You said you wanted ‘gritty’…. i. e. ‘UGLY’…”, and the woman says “I meant ‘TV-ugly’, not ‘ugly-ugly!’”😂 So I’m just saying the TV standard for attractiveness is a wonky scale where even supposedly unattractive people are usually still decent looking. Then you’ll have your very attractive stars, but these are basically models who are able to act. I think a lot of these folks can act well and they’re TV-ugly at worst, in terms of actors/actress casted for leading roles or something where they aren’t intentionally supposed to be average or below-average for the sake of the storyline of the character.

With all that said, I often feel like the industry SUGGESTS these people to us as the height of attractiveness. Or maybe we just take them as such and put them on pedestals they don’t need to be on. “They’re famous, so this must be what the best looks like.” And they aren’t textbook ugly, they probably are generally good looking, but then they just become the standard. I think we’re very susceptible to the power of suggestion. I agree with you, I feel like I could see these women at the supermarket, in most cases. But to be fair…. I probably won’t see a Sofia Vergara at Walmart or Home Depot, lmao, some folks are rare birds. But I think that’s also just another casting director’s “type”, she’s beautiful with uncommon bodily proportions, she’s going to be casted as “bombshell” in almost any role. The other gal from Modern Family is good looking too, but she looks like a regular person. That’s why she’s “average mom but you’d definitely smash” and Sofia is “impossibly hot trophy wife” on that show. You couldn’t swap those two and make it believable, which is no shot at the other gal, but they just have totally different looks.

But besides the typecast “bombshell” from Central Casting, most of these actresses look like pretty normal people. I’d love to talk with an actual casting agent to see what they look for, because there are probably traits they look for that have become conventional Hollywood wisdom, like having large, bright eyes or something along those lines, some specific trait that creates a common thread that the average person doesn’t know about.

Anyway these women you posted above are all at least 7s and some are not far from 9s. Maybe your idea of 9s and 10a are airbrushed and photoshopped models. Believe what you want but very few women are naturally that beautiful. With AI imaging technology that delusion will only get worse.

Anyway I wish most women you posted above could be found on the street in my neighborhood. Maybe they could be found on a college campus (although more and more liberal college women are mutilating themselves nowadays but that’s a different conversation) but not in most neighborhoods.

Yep. That’s exactly how I felt about her when she had her first big star film inception. She had that girl next door yet cute/hot look to her.

I think she has deep psychological issues that had nothing to do with gender identity. Sadly common with celebrities. But she was manipulated and brainwashed into doing something barbaric to her body and there is no turning back. Didn’t she surgically have her breasts removed? Honestly I hope she served as an example of what NOT to do. I hope this will be a hard lesson for other people out there.

Celebrities do have to deal with unique challenges. Yes they are wealthy, talented, famous, etc. but many of them struggle with unique problems that can destroy their lives if they aren’t prepared for it.

I blame the industry for this crap. In a different time era she would of never made that decision.

Florence Pugh for example (your second last pic) looks like a girl I would see at the store here. Even Jenna Ortega, she looks like a young latina you'd see at university or so.

I always thought that way, actresses and models are people like us too and mostly they are not even better looking than any of us. I also have seen cashiers or bartenders that look way better than any model without effort. Of course for photo shoots, modeling pics (where they take special poses to look best), gala visits etc. they spend hours in a make up studio and have expensive clothes. Though what ruins it for most and puts them on the uglier side, is if they start plastic surgery.

Yeah, and I think it has a lot to do with who you’re most likely to attract. You’re not gonna get the women in those pictures unless you’re rich and famous. You imagine talking to them, they might ignore you or they might be very nice, but either way you’ve got no chance of pulling them so you’re not even gonna try. Plus their lifestyle is so much different to the average person, you probably wouldn’t want to date them anyway. Not so with the average woman.

I would take simple, sweet and a down to earth/in with reality looking woman any day over a supermodel or Hollywood type of look. I honestly can’t stand all the fashion looks of today. You touched on something I was unable to articulate. The “fake” factor as you put it. It really kills it for me. “Trying too hard” also as you put it. To me both are a real turn off.
