My boyfriend wants to see a movie he doesn’t like because I’m going with a male friend?

I want to see the Barbie movie with a friend of mine because my boyfriend isn’t into it but now he wants to see it with me. Is it purely because he wants to see it with me or because I’m going with a guy friend?

I’m hoping the former because I don’t want to deal with a boyfriend that gets upset when I hang out with guy friends.

If your guy friend was just a friend, this would not even be a consideration. Your initial thought should be, "wonderful, more people to hang out with". But your first conclusion is to do with relationship dysfunction. If this friend was not a threat, then your boyfriend would not be perceiving them as one, and he may not be.

Treat it as it should be, your boyfriend is watching a movie with you and a friend.
