Yes I have experience on that
I was over weight during first 1.5 years of college when I was doing my four year Bachelors in mechanical engineering
I used to get straight A's.. but to keep up with the academic stress, I would stick to junk food as a stress relief
Also sometimes it would be super hot where I live and I drank a whole bottle of Coke everyday
I never craved or thought about getting attention from girls.. but once I was watching a movie of Sylvester Stallone (While eating Ice cream lol) and saw how much of a stud he looked in a particular outfit!
I ordered that outfit and was excited to try it on.. but guess what, it looked like shit on me
I got sad and analysed it and realised that it looked good on him cause he had a fit body and me with all the fat would look bad in any dress
So even though I can't afford time to hit the gym, I completely cut out fast foods and sugary stuff and went on fasting and light cardio
Within months I started seeing results and pants which were tight for me earlier started to fall down lol
And one day when I wore that outfit I mentioned earlier I felt so satisfied as it looked good and I got a lot of stares from girls
And then I noticed I was being checked out by some girls and one day a girl who takes the same bus as me asked for a coffee that evening and things went from there!
So basically if you put effort , things can really go your way!

Nope. My weight has never really affected that.
I know a guy who was chubby and slimmed down by doing two things and he went from a 4 out of 10 to a 10 out of 10 but I did not like his personality so he was just good to look at, not to date.
No, I got more attention when I was much heavier.
