He was really nice about it and said that he wanted it to be known that it was nothing I did and I am sweet, fun, and we get along great. He was just struggling with the fact that we couldnt hang out a lot. Afterwards he asked if we could remain friends. He also just liked a "meme" on instagram that said "knowing your worth leave your phone dry as hell" did I do something wrong?

No you didn't do anything wrong and I think he was telling the truth. He just finally came to the realization that not being able to see each other that often was making the relationship not viable to him. He probably thought of this in the beginning and thought he could look past and deal with it only to come to the reality that it just doesn't work. That happens and happened to me. My college girlfriend transferred to another school and it just wasn't going to work. Neither of us did anything wrong but both realized it wasn't sustainable.
